Oh, the method to remove the WGA reminder is not mine - I found it on the 'net. I'd give proper credit but it's orgin is unclear, lost in the binary sands of time.

I made an upgrade to my media player and MS Windows Genuine Advantage began popping up. My system is legal but it's been patched together so many times that the MS website can't figure it out anymore. After a month of dealing with the stupid popup suggesting that my Windows software was "bad", I found a way to remove it. Here it is in case anyone else wants to remove the Windows Genuine Advantage reminder, and your system is legal (I would never suggest using this to make a bootleg system look legal).

1. Make a backup of your windows registery before you do anything else.
2. Boot in safe mode (hold down F8 while booting).
3. Run REGEDIT.EXE and navigate down to you windows folder. Find the folder WGALOGON and delete it. Exit the windows register, you're done there.
4. Use Explorer to go to your WINDOWS folder and find all files that start with WGA (or search that folder for WGA*) and delete them. Usually there's 2 or 3 that keep track of your behavior (spy on you) and they'll put the registry entry back on your next boot if you don't delete them now.

That's it. You're done. If you found this helpful please go to www.hungersite.org and click a link to help feed a starving person.
