Considering all the variables and peripherals involved when installing an IP system, do you find that you get more service related calls when compared to an analog system? This is not a what system is better argument but a fair discussion based on experience between both technologies. Considering you have networking, switches, routers, POE, injectors and software involved with your IP systems, I am wondering if they are more prone to produce downtime or call backs.

I would say not as long as your cameras have a fixed IP address. We normally set up using DHCP and then fix the cameras address. If the DHCP server (normally the router in basic systems) reboots, it can change the IP address of the cameras. On the plus side, camera settings (and even focus on some) can be changed from anywhere. We have used Teamviewer to change camera settings at sites miles away (ie compression, frame rate etc) Try doing that with an analogue camera! As for switches and network in general, it's all tried and trusted technology that every aspect of our lives uses everyday from shopping, getting petrol, cash ATM etc, etc
